Swatch time: Rimmel The Only 1 Matte in 810 The Matte Factor

Dear Roses and Lilies,

This year, Rimmel did a fantastic job launching the The Only 1 lipstick line, featuring many wearable shades, in a sleek packaging. But they did not stop there as, recently, they also launched the matte version of The Only 1 line, featuring creamy matte shades that are also totally wearable.

Today, we are looking at a Holiday appropriate shade called The Matte Factor #810.

This is a deep red, rather cool undertoned, that looks darker in the tube than it registers on your lips. With the right kind of blusher, this would help complete your festive look, if you are into red this year.

810 The Matte Factor
The original packaging of the The Only 1 lipsticks is shiny black. For the matte version, Rimmel did this cool, matte red packaging. It is sturdy, so no worries about tossing the lipstick in your bag carelessly. It also helps with the grip. One thing I need to mention about the bullet though - I don't particularly fancy it, as it is less easy for me to apply this lipstick without using lip liner. With the lipsticks that have the longer, slanted tip, I can draw the outlines of my lips easier. I am not a big fan of lip liner, as it sometimes changes the color of your lipstick. The scent of this Rimmel lipstick is very distinct and quite full on - floral but sweet at the same time. I feel the scent dissipates within minutes after application, so that is good. For a matte lipstick, it glides on like a dream and you get it to be fully opaque in two swipes.

Tips: prep your lips before you apply the lipstick, as the matte texture typically emphasizes every bit of texture your have (as seen below).

Also, blot between layers, so that you get it to last a lot longer without fading away completely at the end of the day.

If your lips are well hydrated beforehand, you won't have issues, as this Rimmel lipstick keeps moisture in throughout the day. The wear is, hence, very comfortable, and you can hardly feel it on your lips. It is long lasting, as the color survived through cocktails and pasta, with minimal fading. You get some transfer, so don't go smooching your significant other - this is still a creamy matte, not a full on one.

Have you tried out the Rimmel The Only 1 Matte lipsticks? Which shades do you like?

xoxo
